Oh great. So it looks like the server really is down.

My dad is the one with root access but he's not here right now so I couldn't tell you when the server will be up again. I will post here when it is up though.

Sorry for the double post but I found out something interesting: The server isn't even running! I contacted the server using PuTTY and the log said it shut down at 9:16 last night. To make matters worse, to turn it back requires root access which only my dad has. When he gets back I'll ask him to fix it.

Ok, in the wake of the server confusion on the part of the hosting company, I have good news and bad.

The good news is that the server has been restarted!

The bad news is that it has to be totally resetup! However, my dad is working on the server as we speak. I predict that the vent server will be operational tomorrow.

But what do I know? Server is up, but they literally deleted EVERYTHING! Because the server is a virtual server, shutting it down means making it vanish. That means that my dad has to restore everything from backup. Vent won't be up for a bit. I'm gonna quit estimating when the server will be operational again and just post here when it's up.

Ok guys, I have good news and news that can be not bad or bad depending on your point of view. The good news is (contain yourselves ) vent is back up! HOO-AH!! The other news is we still don't know what made it turn off. The server service was just off. As if something shut it down. Not a clue why but that is what happened. I have a theory that it shut off because the log file got too big for it to handle but that may not be the case. But enjoy vent and see ya there!

And THIS time I'm gonna get into the webserver using SSL to see if I can turn vent back on next time. I had forgotten about the fact that my dad made a batch file that I can run to restart the server if it shuts down.

Vent shut down again sometime last night. If it does what I think it will do, it will be down tomorrow as well. It is easily renabled, but it may take time depending on what I have to do that day. My dad and I will be working on getting it to stay on, but for now just be aware that it might just die on you for no reason at all.

Vent is back up.
