Ventrilo Server Anouncement (VENT USERS MUST READ THIS)

To everyone who uses the Ventrilo Server on the Plain and Simple Computing Server:

I have been told by my Dad that everyone must get off and stay off the vent server until further notice. Specifically, I will post a reply in this announcement to let you guys know that it is ok to come back on the server. DO NOT TRY TO CONNECT TO THE SERVER AT ANY TIME UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD YOU MAY DO SO! This is very important. The server my Dad runs (which also has the vent server) is being moved to another server due to a Comcast problem. That means that my website, the Plain and Simple Computing Website, the Ventrilo Server, and other sites my Dad hosts along with their FTP servers and email servers (I think) will be offline tomorrow and possibly the next day as well. However, the new server will have increased memory, so we might see so improvement in server performance!

To eliminate confusion, I will be kicking everyone who is on the server at 8:30 P.M. Eastern Time off. If you have any questions about this, just reply to this announcement and I will try to answer your question as best I can.

Ok guys, it is official. The server is back online and what's more, the vent server is up!

You all can now connect to the server. Reply here if you encounter any problems with vent.

Hmmmm, I can't either. I thought this would never happen because we didn't need to run VENTALLOW.BASH (The program AgentE382 made to allow Ventrilo through the firewall) this time. It appears that I was wrong. My Dad and I (AgnetE382 we may need your help) will work on this and see what we can do. I will post here when I have confirmation that the server is running again.

Ok guys, the server works. If I understand correctly, the server was terminated by something so my Dad just restarted the server. We are back in business!

To all who are new to vent.

If you cannot get on vent, post in this topic to say you can't get on vent. Being the admin of the server, I have to know if someone can't connect because that means there is a serious problem. I will always post here when vent is fixed.

Well, if you read the other posts in here, you will find that there were some firewall issues on my dad's webserver the vent server was running on. Then my dad's webserver (which btw is a virtual server, for those who know what that means) got moved to a different server which has a different style firewall. So far, it has not given us issues so I'm hoping it stays that way.

Whew! Turns out that the reason I couldn't get on vent is I selected the wrong server. I downloaded the server client to use at my house and I have a preset for it. I had that selected instead of the PASComputing one.

What was funny was mere seconds after I posted the aggravated post saying I couldn't get on, I did.
