Yeah, the next wave from this storm is supposed to hit sometime soon. I forget exactly when.

it has been snowing all day yesterday and today.

That snow caused us to lose power for about 30 seconds at a time twice. Once yesterday evening, and again this morning.

Wow! We got about a foot and a half of snow once it was all said and done. I don't know how much snow we'll get from this next storm.

Ventrilo is a program that allows you to talk to people over the internet. It is so good, it sounds like the person you are talking to is right there! AgentE382 and I have a Ventrilo Server on our business' webserver and I can give you the password to connect to it if you can get the program (its free). Oh, besides voice chat, it does regular text chat as well.

Hi got 2 power-outs and more than 2 feet of snow! Also Vent is nice .

Vent is only a 3 MB download, so it won't take that long. We can also lower the voice quality to take less bandwidth if someone's ping rate gets too high.

P.S. If, for some reason, Ventrilo can't connect, tell either me or AgentE382. If we can't connect to the server, that's not good.

what do you mean about the PM? To answer the other question, that stuff would be answered in my reply to the PM. The only reason I don't just post the connection info is because it's not very secure. Since anyone can see the posts we make, they could figure out how to connect to our Server and that wouldn't be good.

Anytime someone would like to join the Ventrilo server is fine with me

Well, actually you didn't make your own server. The client can't do that, there is a download to do that, but it only works for those on the network. It doesn't go online like the one AgentE382 and I have. Just to make sure you did it right, I will explain how to do it.

Step 1: Make a connection. To do this, click on the the arrow button next to the field "Server" When the window pops up, click the button "New" Then type in a name, whatever you want. Once you have a name, click OK and then type in the connection info I sent you. After that, click OK.

Step 2: Establish connection to the server. Now that you have made a connection, Ventrilo will try to connect using the info you gave it. Depending on your internet connection (the faster the better), it will take somewhere between 5-20 seconds for it to resolve the hostname and detect the server. Once it does, it will say "Server is Availible..." whatever else it says (I forget). That is when you press connect and it will join the server.

Step 3: Communicating with other users. This is the most important part. To use VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) which allows you to speak to other users using a mircophone, press and hold Left Ctrl while you are speaking. Once you are done speaking, stop holding Left Ctrl, it's basically a push-to-talk thing. To use the chat, click on Chat and a Chat window will appear. Anyone who is in the chat will have a "C" before their name. There are two checkboxes in the chat window. TTS is Text-To-Speech. If you check that box, anything you and others chat is spoken using the computer's voice software. Timestamp just puts the date and time next to each post. Have fun, and I hope to see you there!
