The Spy RPG: When Day Turns to Night

Post  AgentE383 on Fri Apr 22, 2016 5:16 am

This is basically going to be a polished reboot of the main Roll Play. This uses the original as a canonical, if maybe exaggerated and fragmented, history. Some of the historical characters will be playable, including Tomat Fontar, Shellia Liquaro, Sakura Kayamatoya, Silver, Sylamiss,

Here is the Form then the story:
Gender:
Name:
Code name: (optional)
Age:(as realistic as possible please)
Side: ("General intelligence Network"[GIN]{Formerly known as spies}, "Government in Exile"[Tin heads])
Weapons:(no limits except what you can realistically carry)
Powers: (Limit: 2)
Bio:(Basically a short life story for your character. Please Specify personality traits and important events. This should not be entirely comprehensive as you can add more for growth later in the actual Roll Play)
Looks:

The world is shattered. Over one hundred years of warfare has decimated the population of the third planet in the Sol system and the alien population that immediately surrounds it. During the war the most impressive accomplishment achieved by mankind was creating a second home for man on the planet humans call Mars. The Mars base was quickly turned into a war facility as massive amounts of resources were converted into huge spaceships that have since been smashed to pieces, recycled and smashed again. The so called "heroes" of the General Intelligence Network were able to turn the tide in many key battles that would have sealed victory for the Government in Exile and prolonged the devastating war. Jeth Q. Mentic was the main strategist for the Exiles, having repeatedly defeated the "heroes" in the past and continuing to do so in order to keep the rightful government of Earth alive and to ensure the survival of the human race. The fate of Jeth Mentic is not known after he disappeared in a battle with Soliss Arthur Cahill. His son assumed command of the Government in Exile's forces under the tutelage of an elderly man only known as Legion and has performed admirably ever since. The young heroes that were saved from the zombie outbreak grew up only knowing violence and warfare. They were a new breed of human and died as heroes in the service of the Network fighting for Liberty. Bange, the operative that was tasked with defeating the heroes one on one had the misfortune to run into Klickman Verlowsa on his first try and after a titanic battle was killed in action but not without forcing Klickman to sacrifice himself in order to save other soldiers. Shellia Liquaro and Sakura Kayamatoya have an unknown fate, but were last seen battling the immortal Sylamiss. Silver was found draining the life force from enemies during battle and feeding off of it to become stronger. He was forced to leave the service and vanished into the thriving underworld. Tomat Fontar and Soliss Cahill were eventually the only two "heroes" left. Soliss had an awakening when he decided to look back at where his life had taken him. Overcome with sadness at the friends lost, the destruction caused by his God given powers and the elimination of any innocence humanity had left, Soliss decided to seal himself and his powers away for as long as it took for the world to once again be ready to receive the gifts God had given him.

Tomat Fontar Status:Alive, Currently leads a depleted Earth and GIN against the Mars based GIE.
Shelia Liquaro Status: Unknown, Presumed Deceased
Sakura Kayamatoya Status :Unknown, Presumed Deceased
Soliss A. Cahill Status: Stasis, Location Unknown
Silver Status: Unknown
Sylamiss Status: Unknown
Jeth Q. Mentic Status: Unknown, Presumed Deceased
Hawk Blade Status: Deceased
Ben Status: Deceased
Caleb Status: Deceased
Finn Status: Deceased
Ashley Status: Deceased
Klickman Verlowsa: Deceased
Bange Status: Deceased

The world is a post apocalyptic style setting. There should be cities but they should be almost deserted. Most factories are half destroyed but have robot caretakers that are still trying to repair them. There is enough automated and manual infrastructure to maintain a small fleet of spaceships and manufacture a few replacements here and there. The most human interaction your characters might come across in the wild is a few scattered mostly dirty towns. Shanty towns are common. Real towns are scarce, especially as we know them in modern day America. This should all be demonstrated in my first post, if there are any questions please PM me.

Gender: Male
Name: Jak'talih Mektalith
Code name: Jason Makos
Age:26
Side: Neutral, will pick a side after reconnaissance
Weapons: Pulse Rifle, Combat knife, Simple Phase Suit, High-beam Pistol, Shock Gauntlets
Powers: Phase Shifting
Bio: Jason is a soldier/scout in the imperial service of Tak'mil. His unique ability to phase between timelines and dimensions was evident from an early age. Having disappeared for days at times he would always come back wiser and has seen much more then his relative youth might lead one to believe. Twice he has averted massive catastrophes that would have torn the empire apart after having experienced similar circumstances in other timelines. Despite all of this, he is a easygoing person who has a slightly snappy sense of intelligent wit. He recently was promoted to the Earth equivalent of Chief Master Sergeant and sent on a mission of overwhelming importance.
Looks: A sleak black suit with seemingly random multicolored lights is what he most commonly wears. He is a 5'10" Caucasian male with forest  green hair.

Jak'talih was stuffed. A huge banquet had been thrown in his honor before he was to attempt an experimental journey using an amplifier to his natural abilities. He was surrounded by legends and heroes that had served his homeland faithfully for many years. The traditional dress uniform was surprisingly simple and elegant while still offering protection in the form of flexible "nano armor" to imperial officers. Jak'talih's combat suit was a stark contrast to the rest of the party atmosphere, a grim reminder that he might not return. A sudden lull in conversation was created by a single officer raising his glass and tapping it with his dinner knife. A general walked up to the small podium set up in the back of the dinner hall. He paused, drank from his glass and unfolded a small piece of paper. His gaze swept across the assembled faces until he connected with Jak'talih. "Today we celebrate the beginning of a prolonged mission of incredible importance, the likes of which has never been attempted before." His voice was strong and steady in spite of the age apparent in his face, "Jak'talih, a young soldier will be sent into unknown territory, to face an unknown enemy. His challenges will be great, but his courage and strength must be greater. Today we send one of our best and brightest into the unknown, in order to save a species and perhaps ourselves." The old general smiled slightly, "So let's get on with it shall we?" He turned around and left the small stage to applause.

Moments later the banquet was all but forgotten as Jak'talih strode purposefully down the corridor. Walls of glass gave way to solid white as the hallway emptied into the special chamber designed to carry Jak'talih on his journey. Hak'toleth, his childhood friend stood beside a small platform in the center of the room. He reached up, pressed a few buttons then gave his friend a thumbs-up. The old general stood beside Hak'toleth and enumerated once again how dangerous it was for this trial. "Remember, we're sending you on a journey that takes our ships fifty years to cover. Your journey will be over in seconds and you will be severely exhausted for a few moments before your suit pumps the stimulants into your blood. Remember to find nourishment as soon as possible if you wish to survive." The general stopped, and help out his hand. "Godspeed Jak'talih." Jak'talih took the man's hand, "Thank you sir." He stepped up onto the platform, pulled the helmet for his suit on, grasped the bars for his hands, and nodded to Hak'toleth. Moments later the universe exploded into stars.

Re: The Spy RPG: When Day Turns to Night

Post  SniperInYourMidst on Sat Apr 23, 2016 2:21 am

The sunset slowly surrendered to the darkness of night.  A man sat on a chair that looked suspiciously like an old ejector seat and brooded.  The supply shuttle was late again.  GIE raiders were notorious for attacking the slow, lumbering craft.  They needed the supplies as much as the GIN did and took advantage of their inability to properly escort their frontier resupply missions.  As a result, it quickly became difficult to find pilots willing to fly out to the "bright lands," a place once called South America.  Small oasis clusters that existed in the northern regions were all that remained of the glorious Amazon Rain Forest.

But this was not the northern region.  A faint flash off to the east was followed by a gentle roll of thunder.  The man looked off to his left and gazed upon Mount Steelfire.  The history books tell of a flagship battlecrusier The Sniper's Fire that was commanded by one of the Heroes of old, Tomat Fontar.  During a pitched battle almost a hundred years ago, The Sniper's Fire and two other battlecruisers were brought down from the inside at nearly the same time by a brilliantly coordinated GIE sabotage effort.  Their engines blown open, the massive ships succumbed to Earth's gravity as escape pods jettisoned like tiny spores.  Their impacts were felt and heard across the hemisphere.  Then came the radiation.  GIN battlecruisers carried eight hot fusion reactors whose size dwarfed that of even the most modern fission reactors.  Landing in a triangle approximately 850 miles wide, the powerful impacts exploded debris and thousands of tons of radioactive materials over thousands of miles.  The triangle of land exists in what used to be Brazil and Bolivia and is known as the Glow Zone for its eerie blue radioactive glow that can be seen at night.  The land surrounding the Glow Zone makes up the rest of the South American continent and is referred to as the Bright Lands for its barren, acrid landscape.  There remains very little of the battlecrusiers save for two craters visible from space.  But The Sniper's Fire benefited from a reinforced hull that, while it couldn't save the ship from crashing, allowed it to retain much of its shape and stand as a monument to destruction.

As the sun gave its final rays of light and the moon rose to take its place, the Glow Zone began to shine.  The man stood and looked up.  There was still no shuttle.  He was instead given a view of the stars and the occasional moving dot that represented an orbiting GIN spacecraft.  Footsteps approached from behind.  The man turned his head toward the sound and moved several steps behind his chair to the deep shadows of the porch overhang.  The footsteps grew louder until a stocky man appeared from the doorway behind the chair and stopped.  He looked around, then slowly walked up to the chair and looked around again.  The former occupant moved with inhuman speed and silence to stand directly behind the newcomer.  "Looking for me?" he said softly in a gruff mechanical voice. The newcomer jumped and wheeled about.  "Gen. Fontar!  I really wish you wouldn't do that to me."  Fontar noted that the man had reflexively started to form a combat stance but just as quickly snapped to attention and saluted.  He returned the salute.  "I know, Sgt. Lillith.  Old habits die hard, I suppose."  Lillith smirked, "One might dare to say you enjoy it."  "Perhaps.  You have something to report?"  "Yes, sir." Lillith's face became serious. "We just received word from the supply shuttle.  They were thrown off course by some kind of electromagnetic pulse originating somewhere on the east end of the Glow Zone.  It messed with their sensors and by the time they had everything recalibrated they had strayed pretty far off course.  No signs of Tin Head raiders so far but they're going to remain low and slow to avoid detection.  Their ETA is six hours."  Fontar frowned. Six hours, after waiting this long for water supplies.  "That better have been quite the pulse to justify waiting so long." he growled.  Lillith shifted uncomfortably, "Well sir, they had us believe it was.  They did not sustain any damage but their radio and computer equipment are still having static electricity issues.  Their sheer age doesn't help either."  "I am aware of that.  Nonetheless, I will have to have a word with that pilot.  He's brave, but he does not seem to understand the nature of his mission.  Thank you Sergeant, that will be all."  "Yes sir." Lillith saluted and left.

Fontar remained where he stood, looking off to the east.  His frown deepened and his fists clenched.  The only reason this base even existed was to serve as an early warning installation for GIE attacks from space.  It was little more than the hyperwave antenna and its power generator.  It could detect ships approaching at lightspeed but had to have a wide field of view of space in order to operate with any kind of usefulness.  Remembering an ancient history lesson on an old glass telescope observatory in South America, one senior officer suggested putting one of their valuable hyperwave antennas a little ways south of the Glow Zone.  Fontar did not think much of that officer after that.  The base relied solely on resupply shuttles for everything from food to water to fuel cells.  It made the place vulnerable to all kinds of disaster.  With fuel cell supplies low, they had to chance leaving their base shield off at night to conserve power.  Their low water situation was not helping things either.  Fontar turned and began a silent walk back to his quaters. That shuttle better make it before any raiders show up.  I don't feel like letting the history books say that Gen. Tomat Fontar met his end in a raider attack in the middle of nowhere.

Tachibana Yuuki - Chapter Zero

Post  Grapefruit on Sun Apr 24, 2016 1:09 am

Gender: Female
Name: Tachibana Yuuki
Code name: Black Snow
Age: 23
Side: GIE
Weapons: Long Chain, 2 Daggers, Boomerang, Hardlight Shield, Compact Sniper Rifle
Powers: Invisibility -> Slow Time
Bio: Grew up on a small moisture farm on Mars.  Mother was prone to sickness, and was often in bed.  Her father would get angry whenever her mother couldn't help around the farm, and would take it out on his daughter.  Dealing with his abuse for so long led her to develop her gift of invisibility, so she could hide from him.  After years of dealing with her father's abuse, Tachibana finally had enough, and killed him with an old chain that was lying around.  Her mother couldn't take the strain of her father being dead, and her heart gave out.  Alone, Tachibana decided to join the GIE.  Whilst in training there, she learned to develop her invisibility so far as to be invisible to time itself, and could slow down time.  It had its downsides however, as slowing time strained her body, so she could only keep it up for a couple minutes at the most.  After completing her training, she became a Specialist.  Her job: to infiltrate enemy compounds and steal classified data.  Extremely agile and intelligent, she invented her own gear for her mission, and was the youngest to complete training.
Looks: 5'7", long blond hair, green eyes, very attractive.  She wears a long black trench coat.

Agony is the only word to describe it. Jak'talih Fell to the ground every piece of his body screaming for energy and relief. An eternity seemed to pass as the world twisted around him as a result of the massive warp in space-time he had just passed through. To his relief then rising horror the Agony started going away as the nerves in his body slowly went dark from a lack of energy. His arms went numb, his vison swam and was barely able to gasp for breath when Jak'talih felt a wave of energy flood his body. Jak'talih Stood, sweating profusely inside his suit as his body quickly realized how close it came to death. His legs shook for a moment before slowly steadying out allowing him to take a careful step forwards. Jak'talih Had never attempted a jump for this kind of distance before and it was an incredible experience for him. This was another world, a shattered world, but still alive and fighting for its survival. He stood in what looked like a small factory, an ugly robot puttered by totally ignoring Jak'talih's invisible presence. The robot bent a beam that had been half melted away back into rough shape before starting to re-weld. Jak'talih Quickly checked his rifle, the blast core allowed the energy weapon to both, easily slice through most materials with relative ease and recharge in the sun. It was the only weapon of its kind except for his pistol which operated on the same principle. Setting them on stealth mode, the weapons covered their distinct glowing lights. He slowly crept forwards going past the robot and into what looked like a old destroyed warehouse. A catwalk extended about 10 ft in front of him before ending abruptly as an entire wall had fallen away as if a giant had taken a bite out of the building. In the distance, past the opening into the outside, a huge mountain of metal rose from the ground in a testament to man's folly and around it, the ground glowed.

Copral Kirik was mad. A bizzare pulse had nearly knocked out the supply ship and fried some systems as well. These rust buckets were showing their age already and that event had stressed them badly. Private Wlliams was attempting repairs but there was only so much you could do in a planet based fighter while it was operational. A shout and a bit off curse came from behind Kirik before Williams tapped him on the shoulder. Kirik frowned, "What is it Private?" Williams sounded slightly shaken, "Sir, the formation seems to be drifting to the east side of the glow zone. My manual compass is also pointing straight along our current projected path." Kirik's frown deepened but before he could truly react Williams spoke again. "Sir! The effects have reversed! Wait... It's gone back to normal?" Kirik was worried. Quickly the Corpral double checked what his subordinate was saying then checked with the supply ship and the only other fighter. All were noticing the same things though the Supply ship had noticed something else with its sensors designed to operate in space as well. Three GIE raiders had been caught in the same effect and their stealth systems were frustrated. Kirik paled, three hunter/killers vs two planet based fighters and a supply shuttle were horrifying odds. Their only hope was to try and hide and the only place to do that, was near the pulse's source.

General Tomat Fontar had not heard from his Supply ship again in over two hours. It might be time to investigate.

Tachibana Yuuki - Chapter One

Post  Grapefruit on Sun Apr 24, 2016 8:11 pm

Tachibana Yuuki had been on Earth for nearly three months now.  She hated it here.  The air was thick with moisture, and sweating while just standing there was all too common.  But she was under orders to find some base in the Bright Lands.  According to her source, Gen. Fontar himself was stationed there.  Her objective was simply to find the base and set up a transmitter inside as a target for orbital bombardment.  However, she was sure that her superiors wouldn't care if she killed Fontar while she was at it.  But she would have to find it first, which was proving difficult.  She preferred to work alone, but after two months she had decided to work with local GIE raiders in the Bright Zone to help locate the base.  Only a few days after that decision, she regretted not making it sooner.  Only a few days with the locals, and she learned of the base's location.  Now all she had to do was knock out the supply ship so the enemy base would be low on fuel, and be forced to leave the base shield off.  She scavenged some parts together from the locals and built a small EMP to knock out the convoy.  The convoy consisted of two fighters and a supply ship, easy enough to keep occupied with an EMP for a while so she could infiltrate the base.  She set up the EMP in an old factory and waited for the convoy to show up.

As soon as she triggered the EMP to knock out the convoy, Tachibana knew something was wrong.  The blast spread for a few feet, converged back on itself, expanded again, and finally converged on a point near one of the robots trying to repair the factory.  The blue light from the EMP formed the shape of a man, and then exploded outward with incredible force.  She shielded her eyes, then looked back towards the man-shape.  A man was lying on the ground, breathing heavily.  Multicolored lights were flashing from his black suit.  She quickly turned invisible and waited to see what he would do.  He stood up slowly and looked around.  He pulled some kinds of weapons from his suit and was seemingly checking them.  After putting his weapons away, he crept slowly towards a door.  Tachibana waited until he passed through the door, and then ran out a side entrance.  She turned visible again, and hopped onto a tri-wheel motorized bike.  While she was intensely curious about what had just happened, she knew she had a limited window to make it to the enemy base before the supply ships did.  Pushing aside thoughts of that strange man, she roared away into the wasteland.

Re: The Spy RPG: When Day Turns to Night

Post  SniperInYourMidst on Mon Apr 25, 2016 1:26 am

Gender: Male
Name: Tomat Fontar
Age: 126
Side: General Intelligence Network (GIN)
Weapons: PLR-29 Laser Sniper Rifle, Integrated Dual Laser Repeaters, Integrated Blade Launcher with four diamond-edged blacksteel knives.
Powers: Infrared and X-Ray Vision, Death Resistance (nearly impossible to kill)
Bio: Tomat Fontar is the last surviving Hero of the Rebellion.  Beginning his military career in the Government, Tomat became an expert sniper before realizing that his skills were being used to maintain an evil regime and defected to the newly formed Rebellion.  Over the course of several years, he went on many daring adventures with his fellow Heroes in their struggle to defeat the oppressive Government.  But after the liberation of Mars failed, the Rebellion began losing their edge as the Heroes either died or went missing. As time went on, Tomat participated in battle after battle with the Government as they counterinvaded Earth.  Many years of war took it's toll.  Embittered and without the level-headed guidance of Soliss and his friends, Tomat became cold-hearted and ruthless. Over time, Tomat took enough damage to require most of his body to be replaced with cybernetic replacements which gained him increased strength, stealth, and life beyond the span of human ability.  Now he commands what is left of Earth and its once glorious Rebellion of spies, for he is all that remains of its original leadership...
Looks: 6' 6", short gray hair, faded brown eyes, cybernetic appendages and armored biological core.

Eight hours had past.  Tomat made his way to the dinky little shed that served as a communications room for answers.  He was growing uneasy.  "Lieutenant, is there any word from the supply shuttle?"  Lt. Gregory swiveled in his chair and stood to salute.  "No sir.  Comms have been rather quiet lately, in fact."  "That shuttle is two hours past its arrival time!  Have you tried raising them on the radio?" Tomat growled.  "Well uh, not for several hours sir." Tomat's eyes blazed, "Well then do it now!" Startled by the flash of anger he should have seen coming, the poor lieutenant dropped quickly back into his chair while stammering an apology, "I'm terribly sorry, sir!  I should have checked sooner!"  Tomat felt no pity. "Just hurry up."  Lt. Gregory adjusted his equipment and opened the standard hailing frequency. "Shuttle Gryphon, this is Hyperbase Beta, do you read?" He waited for a response.  After fifteen long seconds of silence, Gregory turned in his seat and squeaked, "I'm sorry sir, it seems they're still not respon-" He stopped suddenly when he realized Tomat was gone.

"Johnson!  Johnson, wake up!" The growling mechanical voice pierced the floating visions of home and they abruptly cut to harsh reality as Lt. Mike Johnson returned to consciousness.  Groggily he turned his head towards the door to his tiny room only to find Gen. Tomat Fontar standing right in front of him.  "Uh, Gen. Fontar, sir.  What is it?" The pilot said as he stifled a yawn.  "You and I are going to go look for the supply shuttle."  "It's not here yet? Man, those guys need to hurry up.  I'm getting quite sick of these tight water rations." Johnson whined.  "Shut up and get suited." Tomat interrupted, We're taking the two scout craft out towards the Glow Zone in ten minutes." Before Johnson could say a word of complaint, Tomat was gone.

Re: The Spy RPG: When Day Turns to Night

Post  AgentE383 on Mon Apr 25, 2016 11:43 pm

Kirik felt his breath coming in short gasps but he couldn't do anything to control it. The shuttle and fighters had set down in a grouping of large rubble, maintaining radio silence  in order to reduce the emissions that could be tracked. All power cores on the shuttle had been shut down, the silence was nearly unbearable. A low hum came from above as one of the raiders passed close by. Williams crept forward, placing her laser rifle through the window and mimed taking a shot. "Just once I wish one of those B-" she ground her teeth "I mean 'the OPFOR' was dumb enough to fly a little too low" Kirik stood and crept toward the window. "Put your gun away Private. IF they have someone on the ground they might spot the reflections off the fun barrel." Williams pulled the gun back inside. The two were in the remain of what looked like a two story town home from the pre-war era. Brick had been replaced by more structurally sound materials in the coming decades but was still relatively sturdy. Kirik's instincts could feel the raiders closing in. They didn't have much time for rescue so he would buy them some.

Jak'talih was still disoriented. The jump had totally thrown off his sense of time and direction leaving him feeling like he was somehow spinning while standing still. He had since made his way down to the ground, passing more wreckage that had been crushed as to no longer be in a usable state or just large chunks of stuff lying around. He hefted his pulse rifle and moved towards what seemed to be the wreckage of an ancient town. A buzz came form above him as something passed by, a spotlight flashed to Jak'talih's left. He dove into cover, rolling up into a combat crouch inside a small recess made by two twisted chunks of metal. The spotlight crossed much of the terrain before finally streaking off towards the town. It seemed there was something of importance towards the town, it would take only a few moments for the vehicle to cover the distance, but it could take up to half an hour for a human being to cross the space. Luckily he was no human. Jak'talih started sprinting, feeling the exertion start to affect him. The stimulants his suit had injected him with were designed to provide constant energy for a few hours but constant exertion would deplete them faster then had been hoped. Jak'talih hoped he would be able to get something to eat before his energy ran out. It would only take him around ten minutes to make it to the town sprinting constantly and that's what he fully intended to do.

Kirik and Williams were crouched beside the alien co-captain of the supply ship on the other side of the small town. The alien was entirely bald with grey skin and large eyes, but with a surprisingly human build. Maybe a bit stockier then the others, the alien was a formidable opponent. Kirik pulled out his pistol and an emergency flare gun before he nodded at Williams who lit a small piece of cloth and threw it into a large pile of stacked metal that could have been from an old airplane or ship that was now covered in flammables. The alien gazed at another such pile before it caught on fire as well. The fires started small but quickly started to grow. Kirik fired the pistol into the the night a few times before shooting the flare into the air. The Flare gave off a green glow into the night and was designed to stay in the air for an hour or so giving off a military distress signal beacon. Now it was time to wait.

The GIE hunter/killers converged on the fire like vultures seeking to tear into their prey, no matter if it was still alive, that would be remedied soon enough. Kirik fought the rising fear in his throat that always appeared in his throat before every battle. Williams looked excited in her position across the street on the second floor. The Alien had disappeared, who knew where he was, he would appear when he was really needed. One GIE flew over the site of the fake crash getting both real and fake readings confusing the sensors and forcing them to set down in order to investigate. The odds had been reduced but one was still coming in from the south and Kirik had a sinking feeling he wouldn't be dumb enough to set down as well. Each Hunter/killer had a single battle hardened soldier in heavy combat armor and a gunner equipped with a long rifle and light armor. Kirik waited for the heavy soldier to walk closer to the burning wreckage before opening fire. The first shot connected with the man's shoulder burning off a coating of armor and knocking him to the side. The second HuK pilot opened fire from somewhere on the other side of the street. The blast burned the hairs on Kirik's cheek as it passed to his right. Williams appeared out of nowhere slamming into the one who had recently fired attempting to wrench his weapon from him. This would be a fight to remember if Kirik made it out alive.

Tachibana Yuuki - Chapter Two

Post  Grapefruit on Tue Apr 26, 2016 2:55 am

Lt. Gregory was dozing off in the small shed that served as a communications room.  Gen. Fontar and Lt. Johnson had left to investigate the supply shuttle an hour ago, and there was no word from them so far.  It was the middle of the night, and Gregory needed his beauty sleep.  A rustling of the dead brush outside jarred Gregory awake.  He groggily went over to the door to peek outside.  He opened the door, looking around, wondering what the noise was.  He never got the chance to find out.

Tachibana had parked her bike several miles away from the base.  She didn't know what kind of capabilities they had sensor-wise, but she didn't want to risk giving herself away by going any closer on the bike.  As she got closer and closer, she became stealthier and stealthier.  Finally reaching the base after hours of stealth, she dropped to her stomach and looked around.  There was a small building that strangely resembled an old ranch style house.  Behind it, a tiny windowless shed.  There was an antenna on top of the shed, and various wires running all over it.  She determined that the shed was likely the communications hub, and decided to take out whoever was stationed there before moving on to the base.  Knowing full well that killing the people here was not her mission, and would likely alert the GIN that something was amiss, she moved towards the shed.  She rustled a nearby bush to try and attract whoever was inside.  It worked.  A man came to door, looking around.  She pulled her boomerang from her belt and threw it.  The boomerang flew through the air, and hit the man in the neck.  He fell to the ground, dead.  She pressed a button on her wrist, and the boomerang came flying back to her.  She looked to the house, and waited five minutes to see if anyone had heard anything and was coming outside.  No one came, so she went into the shed.

Several monitors were set up on a table, with wires going everywhere.  She took the transmitter from her pocket and wedged it behind a metal panel on the wall.  Mission complete.  But she wasn't finished here.  Her bloodlust getting the better of her, she went back outside and approached the house, dagger in one hand, boomerang in the other.  She tried the door and found it unlocked.  She smiled.  Careless fools. She crept down the hallway, towards a door on the right side.  She opened the door to find a sleeping figure.  She moved towards him slowly, deliberately, so as to not wake him.  When she reached him, she plunged the dagger down into his stomach.  The man awoke, screaming in pain, before coughing up blood and dying.  Tachibana whirled around and crouched low, ready for anyone else who was in the house to come bursting through the door.  Seconds later, a man entered the room in a combat stance.  "Wanna dance?" Tachibana said, as she smiled tauntingly.  The man looked behind her at the dead body, then looked back at her.  "Who are you?" He asked.

"The last face you'll ever see."

Re: The Spy RPG: When Day Turns to Night

Post  SniperInYourMidst on Wed Apr 27, 2016 1:48 am

Several miles north of the Hyperwave installation, two small aircraft flitted silently over the dark, barren landscape.  A half-moon provided only feeble light to see the ground with, but the sensor packages made visual scanning all but unnecessary.  "Echo One, my scopes are clear.  Just some background interference from the Glow Zone."  Tomat checked his sensors again, then hit his comm switch, "Copy Echo Two, I'm reporting the same.  Come about to heading zero-nine-nine and we'll sweep along the side of Mount Steelfire and check the ruins there."  "Solid copy, Echo One.  I'm your wing."  They banked to the right and moved towards to black tower of metal that was once The Sniper's Fire.  As they got closer, they could discern the rough shape of the hull.  The top was not rounded like most mountains, but instead curved out to form the engine blocks with two massive jagged holes where engines 1 and 4 had exploded violently.  Reentry, combined with existing combat damage, scored large streaking holes in the hull and ripped the bridge deck clean off.  The bow was smashed over 1000 feet into the hard ground.  The once glorious ship jutted out of the landscape like an arrow stuck in the middle of a massive crater two miles in diameter.

As they got closer to Mount Steelfire, both craft's sensors became more and more blinded by the gamma radiation being emitted from the Glow Zone.  Tomat knew there to be a moderately sized city ruins about four miles south of the crater, just outside the approximate boundary of the Glow Zone.  It had been reduced to rubble by the shockwave and earthquake caused by The Sniper's Fire's violent return to Earth. It should be around here somewhere... Tomat thought.  Then a tiny dot of light caught his eye.  "Echo Two, reduce speed and drop to 100 feet altitude!" "Copy!"  The two scout craft seemed to almost stop in midair and simply fall while nosing downward.  A few seconds later, they both pulled up and applied engine power to break their descent.  Johnson was lazy, but not when he was flying.  He followed Tomat's g-force inducing brake drop maneuver flawlessly.  "What did you see, Echo One?"  "A fire.  There's someone in the ruins.  It could be our supply shuttle, but even overconfident pilots like this one isn't stupid enough to light a fire in the middle of the night in the Bright Lands.  We need to get closer and see what's going on.  The radiation too strong to see much."  "Copy that.  Should we spread out to wide abreast formation?" Johnson replied a little nervously.  "Affirmative.  Stay low and slow.  If they're tin heads, we get out fast."  "I copy." Johnson pushed the stick over to the right and gently banked away from Tomat.

Moving at just 20 percent throttle, they moved slowly towards the ruins.  Tomat soon noticed something else. The unmistakable shiny green dot of an emergency signal flare hung just over the roof of a two story building.  Based on its height, Tomat estimated that it had been launched about 40 minutes ago.  He keyed his comm again, "Do you see that signal flare, Echo Two?"  "Affirmative.  Could that be a distress flare from the supply shuttle?"  "Possibly.  But if they're exposing themselves like this it could easily attract tin head raiders."  "Course of action?" "Proceed with caution.  We need to confirm whether the supply shuttle is down there or not."  "Solid copy."  Tomat glanced back down at his sensors.  They were almost completely overrun by radiation interference, but Tomat suddenly noticed that every so often, several ground contacts faded in and out of his scopes.  Closing the distance further, the ghost contacts started resolving into more distinct profiles.  One large contact, two small ones.  Then another small contact appeared just a little north of the other three.  Tomat was so engrossed in analyzing the strange radar contacts that he almost didn't see the GIE raider coming towards him.  He saw a shadow moving at a leisurely pace shining a powerful spotlight at the ground.  About to pull an about face maneuver, the raider swung around and headed back towards the ruins.  Tomat relaxed.  "Echo Two, I've spotted a GIE raider executing a ground search pattern over the ruins.  I also detected three ground contac-" The enemy lock-on alarm blared a moment before his plane was hit hard from behind.  Reflexively he yanked the stick back and to the left, but nothing happened.  The scout craft continued to move forward with fire belching from the engine.  More alarms sounded and a damage report appeared on the main screen.

*WARNING* Laser impact detected, rear fuselage.
Main engine critically damaged.
Control surface hydraulics pump critically damaged.
Control surface hydraulics fluid pressure dropping past critical levels.
Active Stealth Camouflage systems damaged.
*EMERGENCY* Fuel System temperature rising above safe parameters.
*EMERGENCY* Engine core overheating.
*WARNING* Airspeed approaching stall speed.

Tomat quickly looked up and saw the nose of his stricken craft start to angle downward as a GIE raider sailed over him.  He pounded the side of the cockpit with his mechanical fist and roared, "Curse you, Tin Head!!"  Then he quickly keyed his comm and in a calmer voice said, "Echo Two, mayday mayday mayday.  I've been hit by a GIE raider, have to punch out.  Get out of range of the radiation and radio for orbital assistance!"  He barely heard Johnson radio back a "Solid copy, moving out!" as he slammed the eject button and was propelled forcefully out of the aircraft by the explosives under his seat.  The scout craft continued on and Tomat felt the heat from the briskly burning engine as it passed underneath him.  The parachute deployed properly and with a sharp jerk, Tomat started his short descent as the ejector seat fell away.  He watched the plane continue to nose down and explode spectacularly fifty feet above the ground.  Tomat then looked to his right and saw the faint shimmer of Johnson's craft rocketing away to the south-east at full speed.  Returning his gaze forward, he gauged the distance to the town to be less than a mile and braced to land.  With a solid *thump* Tomat hit the ground, his mechanical legs taking the impact with ease.  He quickly detached his parachute and checked his weapons.  Using custom neural connections, Tomat could control his integrated weapons just like any other body part.  The blade launcher on the top of his right forearm popped up, neurally communicated they had a full compliment of four blades, then closed.  Next, panels on the outside of both forearms slid back and smooth bulges with four inch barrels on their ends popped up to fill the gaps.  His laser repeaters communicated they were fully charged.  Tomat locked them in place and started to run at a speed only he could achieve, hoping to cross the mile of open land to the ruins before the GIE raider came back to see if he had survived.  The sounds of combat reached his ears and he began to run faster.

Jak'talih was starting to run out of breath. The stimulants were working on his muscles but the lack of oxygen was starting to shut his body down anyway. Sprinting at top speed for nine minutes straight started to weigh on an organic being. Jak'talih slid into cover behind one of the few pieces of rubble dotting the sparse ground that he still needed to cover. The vehicle he had followed had since broken off it's search and intercepted some other flying craft. A bright burst had come from the front of the hawk-like craft had slammed into the rear of one of the newer craft. The craft had dropped quickly with fire spewing from it's engines and shrapnel exploding from it's back. The sharpened vision his suit gave him allowed him to barely spot a figure eject from the front, open a dark chute and fall to the ground before the earlier craft exploded. The hawk-like craft swooped back towards the direction the now destroyed craft had come from attempting to pursue and destroy the first craft's wingman. This was slightly confusing to Jak'talih but he knew one thing, the hawk-shaped craft could not be allowed to destroy it's target. Jak'talih realized he had stumbled into the middle of a fight to the death between two factions, this could be a good opportunity to get the story of this world from both sides of the conflict. This of course was assuming he would be able to reason with either party or even get them to stop shooting at one another for long enough to say something. Jak'talih swung out from cover and sent a single warning shot from his pulse rifle into the sky beside the hawk-shaped vehicle. The vehicle whipped itself to the side avoiding the blast by a wide margin by ground standards. The second craft put on a burst of speed, obviously applying some kind of afterburner, making pursuit impossible.

Tomat Fontar was experiencing none of the same symptoms of Jak'talih on his run towards the town. His robotic legs were tireless, relentless, as the rest of him had also become. The sounds of combat were quickly getting louder, much louder. Tomat was seething, on a second glance it looked like the GIE raider would be able to catch Johnson after all. Having no means of communicating with Johnson, he was hoping that Johnson would try and use his brain instead of just letting the GIE overtake him and gun him down. A green blast came from Tomat's left, burning the thin layer of dust that constantly hung in the air, and flashing towards the GIE raider who swerved to avoid it, allowing Johnson to escape entirely while the raider attempted to reorient itself.

Kirik was really regretting not volunteering to head on another post assignment with that admiral as part of his personal staff. His hand was clapped onto his shoulder, in a vain attempt to staunch minor amounts of bleeding. Most of the damage had been cauterized when he was hit, but it was still incredibly painful and bleeding. Williams was fighting a retreat towards Kirik's position against the raider in heavy armor. A second had joined the fight soon after it had begun. The gunner had then transferred to the pilot's seat and taken the bird in the air to continue the search for the GIN Supply ship. The alien that was supposed to be helping was nowhere to be found but was hopefully about to do something brilliant. Kirik managed to lean out from his position and take a pot-shot at the leading raider. The raider saw it coming and ducked behind his cover. The second started moving up and Williams tried to hit him. The shot connected with his shoulder but did no real damage. The raider retaliated forcing Williams back behind cover. Kirik attempted another shot but pulled back when met with sudden shots from a raider. Suddenly the whine of a HuK laser filled the air. The GIN knew their reinforcements had arrived but were likely being shot out of the sky right now. An explosion confirmed their suspicions and their hopes sunk to a new low. Williams had finally lost the smug look on her face and now showed plain fear when she made eye contact with Kirik. Kirik felt nothing except grim resolve, if he was dying today, so were these guys. A loud whine came from the side the explosion had come from and a pulse of green energy shot into the air. The sound confused Kirik but somehow he knew that weapon was more powerful then anything in his arsenal. For the first time since the fight had begun, he felt both hope and dread.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sgt. Melone had been out on routine patrol at the beginning of the night. Guarding the communications hub was always boring but necessary if the forward base was to be made permanent. Melone smiled slightly at that thought. If the base became permanent then some other poor slob would have to stand guard and not him. Maybe then he could get some real sleep. So engrossed with his thoughts he forgot about the world for a little bit and realized he had wandered outside his patrol zone. Sighing he started back the way he came but stopped when he saw something shine in the moonlight. He took a few steps forward before realizing that it was a liquid. It was blood. Melone had never been the most sturdy of fellows and it showed, but what he did next was exactly what was needed. His eyes went wide as he jaw went slack before hysterically yelling, "BLOOD!" The base started to come awake.

At the same time that Melone was wandering, the man that stood in front of Tachibana flexed his hands and started bouncing on his toes, clearly experienced in fighting hand-to-hand. He started edging to his right, towards the bunks, attempting to circle Tachibana.

Tachibana Yuuki - Chapter Three

Post  Grapefruit on Thu Apr 28, 2016 11:38 am

Sgt. Lilith began circling towards his right.  The woman across from him followed his movements with her eyes.  Suddenly, her right hand flashed forwards and something flashed in the moonlight.  He dove into a combat roll, coming up on her left.  He juked back to his feet and glanced back at what she had thrown, and saw a boomerang stuck in the wall.  He looked back just in time to see her lunge at him with her dagger.  He took a step to his right and jabbed with his left fist.  She pivoted back on her right foot, avoiding his blow.  He advanced on her and punched twice in quick succession, right fist low, left fist high.  She grabbed his right wrist with her right, and knocked aside his left hand.  She yanked him towards her, dagger at the ready, trying to impale him.  He planted his feet, got low, and swept his left leg at her feet.  He connected, knocking her down, and he was pulled down with her.  She released her grip on his wrist when they landed, and he quickly jumped back onto his feet.  She rolled backwards and came up low on her feet, pressing a button on her wrist as she did so.  The boomerang on the wall flew back through the air and she caught it in her right hand.  She stood fully upright, putting the boomerang on her belt.
"I can see you have some experience with hand to hand fighting," the woman said.
Lilith smiled.  "Martial arts is my passion."
"Well then, let's see how you handle this," she said, pulling a long chain from her belt.
The woman whipped the chain through the air towards Lilith.  He tried to grab the chain out of the air, and would have succeeded, but the chain seemingly dodged his grip.  It wrapped around his right wrist and tightened.  Well, if this is going to be a ranged battle...  Lilith pulled a gun from his belt with his left hand.  He quickly took aim and fired.  Thinking he would take her down with that bullet, he grinned smugly.  His jaw quickly dropped though, as a sudden red glow filled the room.  She had raised her wrist as he took aim, and a light was coming from it.  She appeared unscathed.  His hand dropped to his side, and the light vanished.

The sound of someone screaming awoke Pvt. Franklin, followed quickly by the sound of a gunshot.  He jumped out of bed, realizing that the gunshot had come from the next room.  Quickly, he grabbed a his gun and ran towards the door.  In the hallway, a woman with a gun was standing near the door into the room where the gunshot had come from.  Red glow was pouring from under the door, but disappeared.  The woman, whom he recognized as Lt. Matthews, motioned for him to stand on the other side of the door.  Once in position, she counted down on her fingers.  Three, two, one, ZERO.  They burst through the door.  Standing inside was Sgt. Lilith, and across him was a woman.  She was holding a chain attached to Lilith's wrist.  She glanced at Franklin and Matthews, and the chain released its grip and coiled around the woman's wrist instead.  She dove out the nearby window.  Everyone inside ran to the window, but when they looked outside, they saw nothing.  She was gone.

"...get out of range of the radiation and radio for orbital assistance!"  Johnson felt icy fingers of fear start to grip him as training kicked in and he quickly replied, "Solid copy, moving out!" while slamming his throttle to full military power.  He pushed his plane into a tight right turn and arced away from the ruins.  Leveling out, he pushed the throttle past the full power indent to the afterburner indent.  A dull *boom* came from the engine as Johnson felt the burst of acceleration push him back into his seat.  He saw his enemy lock-on warning light flash erratically, signifying a Raider trying to get a long range laser lock on him, but ignored it.  His light and nimble scout craft could outrun Raiders any day.  The ground started to turn into a blur as Johnson approached Mach 1.  Letting off the fuel-guzzling afterburners, he checked his scopes.  The radiation levels were subsiding.  Johnson decided to try his radio.  "Southern Control, this is Echo 2 declaring state of emergency, over."  Almost immediately a slightly distorted but impeccably calm voice replied, "Echo 2, this is Southern Control.  We copy your state of emergency.  What is your situation?" Johnson let out a sigh of relief.  It didn't take nearly as long as he thought it would to get clear of the radiation. "We have been engaged by GIE Raiders four klicks south of Mount Steelfire.  Echo 1 has been shot down and we suspect supply shuttle Gryphon has been forced to land in the ruins somewhere."  "Understood, Echo 2.  Red flight, break orbit and assist Echo flight."  Another voice, gruff and low, replied, "We copy, Southern Control.  We have radar contact and are moving to assist.  Echo 2, maintain holding pattern until we reach your location.  What is your fuel status?"  Johnson glanced at his fuel gauge and did some quick math. "I have fuel enough to escort you back to the combat zone before needing to return to base."  "Copy that.  We are inbound to your location.  ETA two minutes."  "Solid copy."  Johnson could already see four fiery streaks moving quickly across the sky as four F-9 Kingfisher spacefighters reentered Earth's atmosphere.  Hold on Gen. Fontar, Johnson thought, Help is on the way.

Meanwhile in the ruins, Tomat had reached an outlying building.  It was once a two story townhouse, but now lacked a second floor and any kind of roof, and a powerful laser blast had just lanced out towards a GIE raider from the inside.  Moving quietly, he crouched by a corner.  Most of the wall was intact, but the right side wall had been blasted apart.  Peering around, Tomat barely perceived that someone was inside.  Switching to IR vision, a faint heat signature in the form of a human stood on the far side of the building.  With all the internal walls already gone, Tomat had a clean shot if he needed it.  He reasoned that this might be a shuttle crewman with a laser rifle and decided to quietly move in closer.  Jak'talih watched the hawk vehicle break off its pursuit of the other craft and was about to try and find someone on the ground when a harsh mechanical voice barked, "Identify yourself!"  He wheeled about, bringing his pulse rifle to bear, and was confronted by a large cyborg with laser repeaters coming off of his arms.  They were aimed squarely at him.  Gathering his wits, Jak'talih replied, "I'll tell you if you lower your weapons."  "Only if you lower yours."  "Agreed."  Jak'talih noted with fascination that the laser repeaters had retracted into the cyborg's arm.  Who knows what kind of weapons he has hidden on his person. He thought.  "Now then, my name is Jason Makos.  It's too complicated to explain right now but suffice it to say that I'm not from this world."  "Huh, not the first time I've heard that.  My name is Gen. Tomat Fontar.  I lead the General Intelligence Network that controls this planet, known as Earth.  You picked a terrible place to hang out in.  We've got raiders from the Government in Exile here trying to capture a valuable supply shuttle and they nearly killed me while they were at it.  Are you the one that fired the laser at that raider?"  "Ah, so that's what that was.  Yes that was me. I noticed it engaged what I assume is your craft and I didn't want the other to be killed as well so I-" He was cut off by a trio of lasers filing the space between them and impacting the back wall.  Tomat quickly redeployed his repeaters as he yelled, "Raiders!  Time to pay for my scout craft, ya lousy tin heads!"  A GIE heavy infantryman was marching towards their position from across the street, but was summarily dispatched by simultaneous impacts from a powerful pulse rifle shot to his core and precision laser shots to his head and chest.  The combat armor the Heavy vaporized under the power of Jak'talih's pulse rifle, but it was Tomat's laser shots that did him in, dead before his smoking body hit the ground.  Both men turned to look at each other.  Jak'talih spoke first, "You're a good shot."  "Thanks, you've got quite the laser rifle there."  "Thank you.  It's called a pulse rifle.  Works off of technology created on my homeworld.  Shall we be friends?  At least until everyone stops shooting at one another."  Tomat regarded him carefully before coolly replying, "Anyone who fights the GIE shares a common enemy with the GIN.  I don't fully trust you yet, but right now I need to find the shuttle crew and your combat skills will be useful."  "Very well.  I imagine those lights will lead us to them."  "Right."  Tomat checked the street, then both men began running down a side street towards the light of the fires.

Code Name: Piercing Eye
Age: 25
Side: GIN
Weapons: Hidden blades in wrist gauntlets and boot tips, KO gas grenades, EMP pistols

1. Unshakable Will: can interact with spatial fabric like non-Newtonian fluid (it can be solid against force). This allows him to "run" through air, make unexpected turns while jumping, etc.
2. Ethereality: Similarly, can "dodge" spatial fabric, meaning that he can become unaffected by matter. This can extend to things that he thinks of as part of him, like clothes and familiar weapons.
Looks: Oriental, average height, green eyes. Thin, but strong.
Bio: (Basically a short life story for your character. Please Specify personality traits and important events. This should not be entirely comprehensive as you can add more for growth later in the actual Roll Play) Unknown. Will be revealed later-

Gender: Male
Name: Tardash "Dash" Harrick
Code name: (optional) Officially, "Mantis." Unofficially, "the Demon"
Age:(as realistic as possible please) 31
Side: ("General intelligence Network"[GIN]{Formerly known as spies}, "Government in Exile"[Tin heads]) GIE
Weapons:(no limits except what you can realistically carry)
1. EMRAR (Electro-Magnetic Rail-Accelerated Rifle) Tactical Sniper, an experimental weapon that only Dash took the time to master. The only sound from the rifle on firing is the clicking of the trigger mechanism, and since the slugs travel at 300 m/s, no sound barrier breaks under normal circumstances.

2. Empathy: He can sense the intentions and emotions of others when in close proximity to them.
Looks: 6'2", ripped physique. Black hair, brown eyes. Wears a grey muscle shirt with a black denim jacket, dark jeans and combat boots.
Bio:(Basically a short life story for your character. Please Specify personality traits and important events. This should not be entirely comprehensive as you can add more for growth later in the actual Roll Play) Tardash Harrick was born in a test tube as part of an experiment in the underground research facilities of the GIE to create a supersoldier through genetic manipulation. Previous subjects were vegetative, but possessed the regenerative powers that they were looking for. As a last-ditch effort to save his research grant, the lead scientist on the project authorized tampering with genes that would affect the emotions or feelings. Tardash was the result. As he grew older, it quickly became apparent that the boy was not normal at all, even beyond his ability to heal from wounds at an entirely unnatural pace. Those assigned to care for him were often unnerved by his calm demeanor and lack of excitement in anything. Several quit their jobs, citing an "unidentifiable, unsettling aspect to the child." He continued to grow, still showing no signs of interest, but possessing levels of motor, sensory, logical and linguistic mastery that were slightly above average for his age. An outside psychologist was eventually consulted to profile Dash, but he requested that no cameras or microphones be used in order to provide Dash with a "completely safe, comfortable environment." The following transcript is recorded from the guards' headpieces. Names removed for confidentiality.

[10:22] Dr. Lotrovsky arrives, dressed casually, carrying clipboard, identifies and scans in.
[10:23] Dr. Lotrovsky: "No cameras, yes? The boy must feel as if he is in a completely safe, comfortable environment, something which I fear he has never experienced. Have you always posted guards outside his doors? My, my. No wonder he has had trouble emerging developmentally. Would you mind leaving for a half-hour or so? Same idea as the cameras, you understand."
[10:24] Guard #1: "Afraid we can't do that, sir. Orders are orders."
[10:24] Dr. Lotrovsky: "Yes, well, at least step away from the windows and stay out of sight. I can't risk the boy associating me with the institution. Hence the civilian clothes. Yes, thank you. That's good."
[10:25] Dr. Lotrovsky enters Subject T11341148's room.
[10:46] Crying is heard.
[10:46] Guard #1: "Must be going well, my brother's wife is a psychologist and she always says the first step to a break-through is the break-down. Got a nice ring to it, that does."
[10:47] Guard #2: Affirmative noise.
[10:48] Crying stops.
[11:13] Dull thumping noises are heard.
[11:13] Concerned, guards breach protocol and knock on door.
[11:14] Subject T11341148 opens door.
*Guards here noted that they were taken aback to see that the child was smiling.
[11:14] Subject T11341148: "Yes?"
[11:14] Guard #1: "Is everything alright? We thought we heard something. Where is Mr. Letrovsky?"
[11:15] Subject T11341148: "Everything is alright. You did hear something. Leonard is in the dining room."
[11:15] Guard #1: "Thank you Dash."
[11:15] Guard #2, quietly: "Leonard?"
[11:15] Guards move to dining room.
[11:15] Guard #1: "Dear god."
[11:16] Guard #2, quietly: *Excessive profanity censored*
[11:16] Guard #2, into radio: "Code 14 on visiting personnel, requesting immediate backup. Lock door T11341148."
[11:16] Control: "Code 14 acknowledged, locking door T11341148. Please confirm, accompanying personnel."
[11:16] Guard #1: "This is Guard #1 accompanying."
[11:16] Audible sound of doors locking.
[11:16] Control: "Code 14 confirmed. Emergency medical team is en route, ETA 3 minutes. Are you or the subject in immediate danger?"
[11:17] Guard #1: "I don't think so."
[11:17] Control: "Is subject harmed?"
[11:17] Subject T11341148, muffled: "I am fine."
[11:17] Guard #2: *Excessive profanity censored*
[11:17] Control: "Sit tight."
[11:18] Guard #2: "What happened?"
[11:18] Subject T11341148: "Leonard hit his head on the marble counter several times, like this."
[11:18] Guard #1: "Why would he do that? He seemed just fine earlier."
[11:19] Subject T11341148: "He said that his wife was... being unfaithful, and that his practice was losing money. I think that is why."
[11:19] Guard #1: *Profanity censored*
[11:19] Guard #2, quietly: "Who's the shrink now?"
[11:19] Control: "Can you and accompanying personnel confirm safety?"
[11:19] Guard #2: "Guard #2 confirmed."
[11:20] Guard #1: "Guard #1 confirmed."
[11:20] Audible sound of doors unlocking.
*At this point, the recording becomes unintelligible due to the noise caused by the EMT.

It was later determined through questioning Dash and examining the doctor's notepad that as the session proceeded, the doctor became openly depressed, interacting with Dash less and less as a psychologist and more and more as a patient, even breaking down into tears at one point. Eventually, the doctor was overwhelmed by the discussion and committed suicide by blunt-force trauma on a marble tabletop. Dash's statements about the doctor's wife and practice were later confirmed by outside sources. According to Dash's caretakers, he smiled for nearly a week after the doctor's visit.

It quickly became apparent to the lab workers that their tampering with the emotional aspects of Dash's genomes had left him with an ability to perceive the emotions of those around him. His distinct lack of concern and traditional emotional reactions are unidentified, though several of the lab technicians claimed that it was due to the fact that such a lab-bred genetic experiment could not possess a human soul. As years passed, this became the accepted theory. In time, Dash was put into combat training along with fellow GIE recruits. He was the top performer in every aspect, whether combat, strategy, or physical aptitude. He was removed from the regular training program after he killed a fellow recruit for pulling a prank. What followed was several years of intense training with the toughest and smartest that the GIE could muster. While Dash was not necessarily the super soldier they had wanted, the GIE had certainly created a super soldier. Along with his physical development, Dash learned to better interact with others, as well as to control his penchant for violence. Once his training was completed, the GIE directed Dash, using him like a surgeon wielding a scalpel. Whether assassinating targets, torturing information out of captives, or planting damning evidence on people, if any job required a ruthless lack of morals, Dash was put on the case. While normal soldiers did not generally accompany Dash on missions, word spread of his effectiveness and brutality as an operative. One said that he only smiled when he was killing. Some said that his knife, Terpsikhore, had never been cleaned and bore the blood of countless victims. Others said that he didn't even have to touch even the toughest of targets in order to get them to talk. When files from Dash's project were leaked, the theory of Dash lacking a soul came to the forefront and, combined with his reputation, earned him the nickname of "the Demon." Feared every bit as much by his friends as well as his enemies, the Demon stalks the shadows in search of the GIE's enemies.

Tachibana Yuuki - Chapter Four

Post  Grapefruit on Sun Jul 03, 2016 10:11 am

Tachibana raced across the landscape on her bike.  She had slowed time to a standstill as she ran from the enemy base to the spot she had stashed the bike, so only a few minutes had past in real-time.  When she had reached her bike she intercepted a distress call from a GIN soldier.  It seemed that a fight was breaking out in some ruins a couple klicks south of Mount Victory.  She decided to assist the raiders in any way she could, since her previous fight had been interrupted, and her bloodlust was not yet sated.  And now, she had the reached the outskirts of the ruins.  She could see fires sprouting up all over where lasers had missed their target.  One spot caught her eye.  Flashes of color and sound indicated that's where the fighting was the heaviest.  She ran to the edge of a building and crouched behind it.  Glancing around the corner, she saw two raiders in heavy armor trading blows with two people who she assumed were GIN.  She pulled her compact sniper rifle from her back and took aim at one of the GIN.  The sound a laser shot rang through the air, and her target fell to the ground.  The man next to her target ducked behind cover.  She put the sniper back and drew one of daggers with her left hand.  She started making her way closer the the fight.

Williams was down.  Kirik didn't know if she was dead or alive.  All he knew was that the shot came from an angle that meant someone new had joined the fight.  And that meant death was coming for him.
